Save Money With A Voip Phone
A great way to save yourself some money if you are prone to making a lot of calls is a Voip system. An acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol, Voip lets you make calls on your computer via a broadband internet connection as if it were a regular phone handset. You can either use a microphone headset plugged into your PC, or more commonly, a proper phone handset that plugs into your computer and broadband socket.
The good points of a Voip installation are cost savings you can make: free calls to other Voip phones are a standard feature and most Voip providers will offer extremely competitive rates for calling landline numbers in your area or internationally. A lot of businesses have made the transition to a Voip network and achieved significant savings with their outgoings, however many home owners are now seeing benefits with a residential system in place too.
One of the things you will be provided with is a softphone. Add a microphone and piece of software lets you make calls directly from your PC. This wasy, even if you do not have a dedicated Voip phone handset, you can still utilise the service, plus you will be able to install this on a laptop and be able to make and receive calls on the go, without having to carry an additional handset around with you. Many softphone set ups are designed to mimic an actual phone on your desktop, so are extremely easy to use.
Another great advantage of Voip systems is that a lot of added extras that you would expect to have to pay for with a standard phone company are usually included as standard. As your computer is handling the call, it's a lot easier for the software to pick out useful information and present it to you as the call is being made. This allows you to get instant voicemail, recording onto your computer's hard disk drive, caller ID and a host of other useful features which you can use for home or a small business. More advanced features are usually available on higher rates plans or business contracts.
