Voice Over IP Is The Telephone Of The Future
Voice over IP is the latest and advanced telecommunication technology. Even though this system is new, people are switching to this very fast because of one particular reason. It saves you a lot of money in phone bills. This new technology provides a much less expensive way to send and receive telephone calls. Internet systems work by sending packets of information over cables, wires, fiber optics, or using wireless technology. At the other end the packets are received and joined together to the original form. VOIP uses the same technology that makes the internet function.
For Voice Over IP to work, a special modem called an Analogue Terminal Adapter – ATA for short. This special modem-like device converts the analog signal (your voice) into a digital signal that the computer can understand. Because the data is digital, it is very pure. Today’s VOIP calls can be so clear that it is not uncommon for the receiving party to think they have been disconnected if there is a moment of silence. For the calls to be that clear, you will need a high-speed connection such as cable or fiber optics. DSL could work, but the others are better since if you have DSL you probably also have a traditional phone. Fortunately high-speed connections are fairly standard in all metropolitan areas and in most rural ones. Do you think VoIP will work for you? Here’s a list of common providers:
- Vonage: Vonage is one of the biggest, oldest, and most known of the group. They were trailblazers in making A mainstream, and they offer a lot of services via their very aggressive marketing. They offer excellent service, but they are one of the more expensive options at $25 per month for the standard unlimited plan. International calls cost extra.
Sunrocket: Sunrocket is an extra latest player in the VOIP world, but they are very reliable very low cost plans. A limitless calling plan at Sunrocket will price less than 17 dollars per month. Because of this, Sunrocket is growing significantly as a main player in the VOIP world.
- Upstarts: Much like every other technology since the beginning of electricity, the prevalence and relative stability resulting from years of fine tuning makes it easier for small startups to offer their own version of VoIP services. Often they offer rock-bottom prices to try to attract business, but be smart and shop around. A start-up may be a great deal, but you don’t want to be left in the lurch if they go belly up.
Long distance charges are expensive, and today everyone makes enough long distance calls to make a difference. Because of this, no matter who you choice as your VoIP carrier, you are pretty much guaranteed to get more talk time for less money, and you probably will end up with a few extra features, too!
